James Receives Impact Award From Tennessee Society of CPAs
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Julie James, CPA, CISA, of Nolensville, was recently presented with the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (TSCPA) 2023 TSCPApex Impact Award.
The TSCPApex Awards Program recognizes the many ways that individuals contribute significant time, energy and intellect to developing the accounting profession and fostering its success. The Impact Award is given to a TSCPA member who has distinguished himself or herself in philanthropic activities.
Throughout her career, James has dedicated her time and talents to community service initiatives as well as those that advance the accounting profession. She has served three years on TSCPA’s Accounting Career Education (ACE) Committee and its Diversity subcommittee and is currently serving as a board member for the Nashville Chapter. James has also been an active member of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (DST), Incorporated. James also served the DST Nashville Alumnae Chapter (NAC) as the Economic Development Committee co-chair and treasurer.
In recognition of her contributions to the profession, James was selected as a 2020 CPA Practice Advisor "40 Under 40" honoree and was also featured in Lean In Nashville's 2020 Amplifying Black Voices series. In 2020, she was selected to become a Fellow in the New Leaders Council (NLC) Institute and participated in a six-month training program designed to equip young progressive leaders with the tools to run for political offices and be civic leaders.
Professionally, James has more than 17 years of accounting and auditing experience. She is currently the associate director of risk and compliance at the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) and serves as staff co-liaison for NASBA's Diversity Committee.
