Hill Receives Special Recognition Award From Tennessee Society of CPAs
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Richard Hill, CPA, CGMA, of Knoxville, was recently presented with the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (TSCPA) 2024 TSCPApex Special Recognition Award.
The TSCPApex Awards Program recognizes the many ways that individuals contribute significant time, energy and intellect to developing the accounting profession and fostering its success. Special Recognition Awards are given to individuals who have contributed to the success of a TSCPA project or initiative.
Hill has been recognized by TSCPA for his extensive work on the peer review program, which ensures those practicing accounting are held to appropriate standards. He has actively worked with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) for many years, serving on its Peer Review Board and in related groups. Currently, Hill is a member of the Peer Review Board’s Oversight Task Force, which has the responsibility of ensuring the peer review program is administered properly among the 23,000 enrolled firms and the entities who administer the program. He also served as chair of this task force for three years.
Hill has contributed his extensive knowledge of peer review to TSCPA, as well. He has been a member of the Peer Review Committee since 1995, serving as committee chair for much of that time, and has authored articles on peer review for the Tennessee CPA Journal. In his service to TSCPA, Hill has also been active in several other committees, and in 2021, he was elected to the TSCPA Board of Directors and TSCPA Council. Currently serving as the managing director of Mitchell Emert & Hill, P.C., Hill performs peer reviews for approximately 35 CPA firms annually.
