PPP Application Window Extended to Aug. 8
The application window for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) has been officially extended to Aug. 8 as the extension has been signed into law by President Trump. The extension had been passed the prior week by both chambers of Congress by unanimous consent.
The extension is intended to provide more time for small businesses to apply for the approximately $129 billion in PPP funding that remains. Applications will continue to be accepted from July 6 to Aug. 8.
As of June 30, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), which oversees the program with the Treasury Department, has approved nearly 4.9 million loans for a total of more than $520 billion.
Congress is also working on a more targeted round of aid for businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
