CCFO and CMFO Certification Programs Now Enrolling
Program Overview
The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury Division of Local Government Audit (LGA) and the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service (IPS) agencies County Technical Assistance Service (CTAS) and the Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS) jointly administer the Certified County Finance Officer (CCFO) and Certified Municipal Finance Officer (CMFO) certification programs. Both programs train local government finance and budget directors and their staffs to better understand the uniqueness of governmental accounting, budgeting and financial reporting and to equip graduates with skills and knowledge to better manage resources and improve financial management.
The CCFO and CMFO programs were designed to increase the participant’s ability to improve internal controls and financial reporting and to reduce potential audit findings and noncompliance with state and federal statutes and regulations. Participants from local governments typically are employed by counties, cities, county and city school systems, utility districts, emergency communication districts and governmental not-for-profit organizations. Both programs are available to non-governmental participants depending upon enrollment capacity and include staff from the Comptroller’s Office of LGA and Tennessee CPA firms or individuals.
