TSCPA Scholarships
Scholarships
The generosity of TSCPA members allows the TSCPA Educational & Memorial Foundation to award more than $250,000 in scholarships annually.
Scholarships are available to TSCPA student members who have completed introductory accounting courses and are planning to sit for the CPA Exam. Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply if they meet the eligibility requirements. Students transitioning from a two-year community college to a four-year university are also encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Requirements
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Member of TSCPA (Student membership is free – join today)
- Resident of Tennessee or attending a Tennessee college or university
- Completed at least three semester hours (or equivalent) in accounting by end of spring 2026
- Majoring in accounting, finance or related field and planning to obtain your CPA designation
- Attending college during the 2026-27 school year
- Must have two completed letters of recommendation, one from an accounting, economics or finance professor from the university you are attending
Named Scholarships
In addition to the general scholarship fund, several named scholarships have been established by TSCPA members and chapters.
Calvin & Jean King Foundation Awards
Four awards to full-time students entering their junior year in the upcoming fall semester with emphasis on academic achievement, leadership and financial need. Learn more about the award.
Nashville Vision Award
One award to a full-time student entering their junior year in the fall, from the Nashville Chapter area, attending a Nashville Chapter school who demonstrates financial need, with a special emphasis on underserved communities. Awarded annually with the option to reapply each year until completing the first year of graduate school.
R. Michael Cain Award
One award to a student aspiring to become a CPA with a particular emphasis on academic achievement, leadership characteristics and financial need.
Deloitte Award
One award to a top accounting student with financial need attending Tennessee State University, Fisk University, Lane College or LeMoyne-Owen College.
B. Bradford
Floyd Award
Two awards to the most deserving students who are aspiring to become a CPA. These students will be identified using all criteria evaluated by the selection committee.
Charles Frasier, CPA – Lipscomb Hughesian Award
One award to a top full-time Lipscomb University senior (or underclassman if no senior applicant meets the criteria) aspiring to become a CPA, with emphasis on financial need, academic achievement, and leadership characteristics.

Goldstein Award
One award to a non-traditional or minority student majoring in accounting who attends a college or university in the Middle Tennessee area.
John and Judy Griesbeck Award
One award to a student attending a university or college in the Memphis Chapter area.
Steven R. Hale Award
One award to a student attending a university of college in the Appalachian Chapter geographic area.
Ward D. Harder Award
One award to the most deserving student who is aspiring to become a CPA and is from Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Lincoln, Marshall or Moore County. Student can attend a school outside of the county. This student will be identified using all criteria evaluated by the selection committee.
Calvin A. King Award
One award to a student with a special emphasis on the student’s leadership characteristics, academic achievement and financial need.
Robert W.
Knapp Award
One award to the top accounting student attending a Shelby County university (Christian Brothers University, LeMoyne-Owen College, Rhodes College, Southwest Tennessee Community College, University of Memphis).
David K. Morgan
Award
One award to a full-time student attending Tennessee Technological University who intends to sit for the CPA Exam, with special consideration given to students residing in Davidson or Williamson County.
Debbie Newell Award
One award to a Union University student who is an accounting major or enrolled in an MBA or MAcc program. Based on academic excellence.
Maxie O. Patton Award
One award to the top accounting student attending Tennessee Technological University.
Imogene A. Posey Award
One award to an accounting student attending a college or university in the state of Tennessee who will be a junior, a senior or a graduate student, with emphasis on the student’s leadership accomplishments in campus and/or community activities.
Will J. Pugh, Sr. Award
One award to a top accounting student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville who demonstrates those outstanding leadership qualities exemplified by Mr. Pugh.
Paul Royston Award
One award to the top accounting student in the state who is a senior. Normally this student has high accounting hours.

Geoffrey & Debra Stewart Award
One award to a first-generation college student who is serving or has served in the U.S. military or who has a parent or sibling who is serving or has served in the military.
Bruce D. Sullivan Award
One award to a full-time student majoring in accounting who intends to sit for the CPA Exam. The recipient should demonstrate financial need, leadership qualities, involvement in community service and academic achievement.
Paula B. Thomas Award
One award to a Middle Tennessee State University student who is deemed by the committee to have the greatest academic achievement.
Richard L. Townsend Award
One award to a University of Tennessee, Knoxville student who is deemed by the committee to be the top student entering the Master of Accountancy program.

Robert V. Whisenant Awards
Two awards annually to the top undergraduate accounting students at Belmont University.
Chattanooga Chapter Award
One award to a student residing in the Chattanooga Chapter area. Student can be attending a school outside the Chattanooga area.

Memphis Chapter Award
One award to a student residing in the Memphis Chapter area and attending a Memphis Chapter area university (Christian Brothers University, LeMoyne-Owen College, Rhodes College, Southwest Tennessee Community College, University of Memphis).
Nashville Chapter Award
One award to a student residing in the Nashville Chapter area. Student can be attending a school outside the Nashville area.
West Tennessee Chapter Award
One award to a student attending a West Tennessee Chapter area university (Bethel College, Freed-Hardeman University, Jackson State Community College, Lane University, Union University, University of Tennessee at Martin).
Educational & Memorial Foundation General Scholarship Awards
Multiple awards for top accounting students based on academic achievement, leadership and financial need. Awards as determined by the committee.
